Snapchat was crashing for a lot of people again
Users on Snapchat reported numerous issues on Downdetector yesterday evening, with more than 125,000 users complaining. I attempted to access the app on my iPhone 6s, and every time I tried to open it, the app crashed. While two other NewsPod staffers were unable to open the app, they were among the five individuals who successfully accessed it.
Snap identified the problem on Twitter in a tweet posted at 6:51 PM ET. The company said via Snapchat’s support channel, “We are aware of an issue that is preventing some Snapchatters from logging in.” “Stay calm, we are working on the issue!” Snap stated that the problem was fixed around five hours after the initial report. Snapchat support has a guideline that recommends manually updating the app if problems persist.
The outage came about as a result of a nasty bug that caused the iOS Snapchat app to crash on launch in June. Eventually, that bug was fixed in an update that was released shortly after.
